Financing for industrial park and rice mill in Senegal
Client
alga Nutzfahrzeug- und Baumaschinen GmbH & Co. KG
alga is a medium-sized logistics company that has been active in Senegal since 1969.
Background
alga has been involved in the logistics sector in Africa, and in Senegal in particular, for decades. This commitment is being expanded to include a rice mill and an industrial park. The latter is intended to further develop alga Senegal's activities in the province of Diourbel and provide a modern infrastructure. The industrial park also serves to attract German/international companies.
A rice mill will serve to substitute rice imports and create additional labour in rural areas. A photovoltaic system is to be installed for self-sufficiency and beyond.
Objectives
DFIC was commissioned to support alga in the acquisition of funding and subsidies. The project is also to be realised in a targeted manner by structuring the project development and feasibility study.
Results
In connection with the DFIC consultation, an application was successfully submitted for the BMWK's Africa consultation vouchers. Contacts were established with relevant German general contractors for the photovoltaic energy supply. Cooperation was also established with the GIZ project development programme funded by the BMWK.
Investment promotion via KfW's investment financing programme Investments for Employment (IFE) has been designed. The programme focuses on the creation of jobs.
With regard to investment financing, the approach was developed with DEG for the Impact Connect loan programme (formerly Africa Connect).
In this context, an outline for a feasibility study was drawn up and its realisation planned. Funding was applied for from DEG for this purpose.
